News in the other side:
Truth Esguerra of Philippine News, the premier Filipino-American newspaper in the US reported that Francisco decked Herrera for the full count at :48 seconds of the third round with a brutal left hook to the body.
A video posted on YouTube showed Herrera going after Francisco early in round three before Drian quickly turned the tables and cracked the Colombian with a thundering left hook to the body to be counted out.
Esguerra said Francisco dominated the bout by establishing his jab and counter right hands together with the left hook.
Trainer Justin Fortune, a former heavyweight title challenger was extremely pleased with the turnaround by Francisco who disappointed Fortune when he lost to Chris Avalos in a battle for the vacant WBO NABO super bantamweight title on July 12, 2013 at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas.
Fortune who returned as “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach for his fight against Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios in Macau said “it was a good win. He did what he was supposed to do.”
Despite the yearlong layoff since his last fight, Francisco said he is in great shape due to the extended training time he utilized for this bout.
Drian “Gintong Kamao/Golden Fist” Francisco returned to the ring after a layoff of over one year to score a devastating 3rd knockout over southpaw Manuel de los Reyes Herrera of Colombia in a fight card aptly titled “Night of Glory-Battle for the Golden State” in California.
Francisco, who is looking to bounce back after his loss to Chris Avalos for the WBO/NABO Super Bantamweight title last September, understands his mistakes and is looking to overcome them.
"In my last fight, I gassed out and was out of breath. This time we will keep those flaws in check," he said with confidence.
Fortune, who is also Manny Pacquiao's strength/conditioning trainer, felt Francisco is ready for his fight due the tough southpaw sparring he received during training camp.
Gonzalez looked like he was taking it easy on Arce for alot of this, and Arce still couldn't get in the fight at all.
Weird stoppage. But arce looks like he just didnt want to fight anymore.
They stopped the fight because Arce kept on spitting out the mouthpiece. He threatened to take a point away on several occasions but ended up dropping it instead.
Arce had not a single chance against gonzalez, but that stoppage was fucking joke....totally weird !!! maybe he could finish the fight! arce has to hang them up..... he would get beat up by any b and c class fighter. he had his career and now its time to retire. good job by gonzalez.
